TURNING OLD PAPER INTO PRETTY DECORATIONS; USING DISCARDED FRUIT BOXES AS STYLISH FURNITURE OR TRANSFORMING BITS OF DRIFT WOOD INTO beautiful objects like wind chimes or even a funky chair! hope you feel inspired!

LOVELY PEOPLE, INCLUDING ESTHER COOMBS, KERRY BROCK AND SAM BOLE, HELPED US MAKE DECORATIONS OUT OF OLD PLASTIC TUBS, WHITE DRINKS LIDS, OLD MAGAZINE PAGES, SINGLE BUTTONS, RAFFIA, SILVER FOIL AND MOULDS FROM CHOCOLATE BOXES AND EVEN A ROLL OF REAL FILM FROM THE LOCAL CINEMA... A “ROCKY BILBOA” TRAILER, NO LESS!?
SOME GREAT LOCALS GOT STUCK INTO UPCYCLING, MAKING COOL STUFF OUT OF WASTE MATERIALS. HERE ARE TWO INSPIRING EXAMPLES...
 
SIX YOUNG ADULTS FROM THE LOCAL SKILLNET GROUP TOOK PART IN A FULL-DAY WORKSHOP – MAKING COLLAGES AND CARDS USING IMAGES THEY CREATED AND UPCYCLED WASTE MATERIALS. ONE OF THE PARTICIPANTS, SAM BARNARD, SOLD A COLLAGE PIECE IN THE STORE TO A LOCAL ART COLLECTOR.

NEARLY 50 LOCAL CHILDREN TOOK PART IN TWO AFTERNOON WORKSHOPS - MAKING AN IMPRESSIVE CURTAIN OUT OF USED WHITE PLASTIC CUPS THAT HAD BEEN COLLECTED AT THE LOCAL VISTA LEISURE CENTRE... THIS WAS PART OF VISTA LEISURE’S SNAP PROGRAMME DURING HALF-TERM IN FEBRUARY 2010.
